Gaga and Melanie

Oh, Zac.

When I moved into my new place Comcast (ugh) offered me free HBO for a year... how could I turn that down? Well, I couldn't. For the past couple weeks I have been watching a lot of HBO! 'On Demand' mostly, but I am really loving it. They have the movie 17 Again on demand... I can't even say how many times I have watched it. Plus, it aired the other night so I recorded it to make sure I can watch once it isn't offered on demand! haha. I LOVE this movie! Zac Efron is so hot in it. What? He's only a year younger than me.... ;)
And of course my favorite, Leslie Mann. She is hilarious. As his wife. ha. If you haven't seen it, go rent it!

Kaitlin said, "Say whaaat?"

Playing along with my Busy Wife! My Say What Saturday moment didn't occur recently, but has haunted me ever since I saw it! hahaha. I was watching "What Would Brian Boitano Make?" on The Food Network and the whole episode was about BACON. Not only foods with bacon, but they were at a bar doing SHOTS with BACON. Say what!?
"Everyone slams a shot of the bacontini with a followup bite of the bacon. The meat-eaters version of the tequila/lime combo."
I never saw that coming.

Brunch mm.

"The Best Thing I Ever Ate"

My favorite show on the Food Network is The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Each episode has a category of foods and they have 5-6 Food Network chefs talk about where you can get their favorite and then they show how it's made. On the episode "Totally Fried", Bobby Flay was talking about these french fries from Balthazar in NY. Now I need to go back there and get some! Except I googled the menu and it is super expensive! But they looked amazing!
On Friday night's episode, "Crunchy," Brian Boitano was talking about these Indonesian corn fritters from E&O Trading Co in SF. I really think I am going to try to make them.
I think the part of the show I like best is how they each describe what they are eating. You can almost taste it yourself! Food passion. hahaha. Like me!

facon?

I went a little nuts in the grocery store the other night and bought all kinds of fake meat things that I've never tried before. I am a huge fan of the chik'n, hot dogs, sausage and buffalo wings by Morningstar Farms. Love them. They have a couple new things-- frozen meals. One is a lasagna with "sausage" and the other is sweet and sour chicken with rice and veggies. I grabbed one of each to try. And then I saw the bacon...I had some fake bacon a few years ago and it tasted like dog food {maybe worse, because I don't think I've eaten dog food}. I bought it and made it last night. Totally impressed. It had a strange kind of flaky texture. When you bite into it, it crumbles in your mouth. I don't think it tasted like bacon, but reminded me of Bac-O's! I drizzled some syrup on top of it and oh wow, it was good. hahaha. Fake bacon... weird, right?

I also got Hickory Smoked Tofurky Deli Slices and some Lightlife Gimme Lean Ground Sausage to use in jambalaya. More on those later...

In-n-out

For those of you in California, I am sure you share my love for in-n-out burger. Yes, even being a vegetarian I LOVE it! Grilled cheese YUM. {Like the cheeseburger, without the meat} One of my favorite items at in-n-out is something on the famous "secret menu": Animal Style Fries. SO GOOD. Animal style= fries with melted cheese, spread and grilled onions. They even give you a fork when you order them because they are so messy healthy. I was craving these after the big move this past weekend. It had definitely been too long since I had some animal fries.Oh fine, back to my no dairy diet.
